How to join a zoom meeting

If you’re using a computer to join the zoom meeting, you don’t need to download anything in advance unless you want to. Zoom will prompt you to download the app the first time you join a meeting.

On a phone or tablet, it’s best to download the free Zoom app ahead of time from the App Store or Google Play.

You will be sent a Zoom link by email or message. At the time of your session, just click that link. Your device will either open the Zoom app automatically or ask if you want to download and run it. Say yes to any pop-ups that ask you to "open Zoom" or "allow access to microphone/camera"—that’s so you can hear and be heard during the session.

If the link doesn’t work for some reason, you can go to the Zoom website (zoom.us), click on "Join a Meeting" at the top of the page, and enter the Meeting ID and Passcode that were provided in your invitation.

Once you're in the meeting, make sure your microphone and camera are turned on.
You’ll see buttons along the bottom of your screen—‘Mute’ to control your microphone, ‘Start Video’ to turn your camera on, and ‘Chat’ if you want to type a message to the host or other participants.
